Dear Matt,
Happy Father's Day my love. This past year has been full of adventure for us. We grew from a family of two to a home of three. I will never forget your support throughout my pregnancy with Henry and especially his delivery. The day Henry was born you became my hero. I could not have survived the pain of labor or the exhaustion of emotions without you. I remember watching your face, seeing the excitement and love wash over you, as Henry was born. You kissed me and life has never been the same.
You are a wonderful dad to our sweet baby boy. Henry kicks his feet and pumps his arm at the sight of you. He knows the fun is just starting the second you get home. He laughs and squeals and smiles so cute just for you, his daddy. I know he seems to prefer me for the snuggling and comfort, but you are need and wanted for everything.
As a dad, you do the cutest things. If Henry is sleeping when you come home from work you patiently wait for him to wake up and then at the first squeal you jump up and rush to his room. You love to watch Henry experience new things. Pushing him on the swings, teaching him the texture of grass, throwing him in the air to feel like superman, and feeding him new foods. You are so gentle with our baby. Henry recently started making "d" sounds and more than once I've caught you teaching him that you are "Daddy" and I've heard Henry trying to repeat the word. I can't wait to see your face the first time he calls you Dad.
You continue to support me in everything I do. You help me be a better mom with your love and encouraging words. I could not be the mother I am today without the father that you are. I love you always Matthew.
Henry is learning new things with your help. You interact with Henry in a way that makes him learn new things and try new limits. You have helped him establish good sleep habits, learn to sit up without falling, roll over and REACH for things he wants (he will be crawling soon because of your help). You do not shy away from hard things and are teaching Henry the same. Henry loves you, I can see it in his smile.
The card we gave you says "You're so good to me every day - mealtime, playtime, bedtime, even diaper time... Every time's more fun because of you! That's why you're the best dad in the world! That's why I love you so much! And PS, Mommy loves you too!"
Happy Father's Day!
