Week 53 - 12 Months OLD

My dear sweet Henry you are 12 months old! Here are a few handsome pictures of you from FotoFly as well as a few stats all about you!

The first part of your 12th month you were an excellent sleeper. You took two 1.5 hour naps every day at 10 and 2. Then you would head to bed around 7:30 PM and wake up at 6:30 AM. We got really used to wondeful sleep. Then came tooth number 8... You started waking up at about 4-5 AM to nurse and then back to sleep until 7:30 AM. Naps also fell off the grid and you started wanting 30 minute naps and even skipping your morning or afternoon nap. Things got a little rough and cranky around here. The tooth came through and we are back on our normal routine.

Our night time routine has changed a little too. You want to be rocked with your head on my shoulder rather than in the cradle like a baby. You fall asleep so quickly on my shoulder with your back being rubbed. You still sleep with a paci as well.

In the morning, daddy gets you out of your crib pretending to be a puppy. You give him a wonderful snuggle every morning. After saying good morning to your room, saying bye-bye to your paci by throwing it in your crib, you and dad go find mom for some milk. After milk we have cereal and play with dad before he heads off to work. You love that dad plays peek-a-boo with the door each morning before heading off to work as well.

You are still a 100% nurser. We have tried adding cows milk into your life but you refuse. We've tried whole milk, 1% milk, chocolate milk, cold milk, carnation instant breakfast, sippy cups, bottles, and regular cups. You drink water just fine out of a sippy cup but NOT milk. So we are still just nursing and continueing to offer milk daily hoping you catch to it someday.

This month you have gone to two extremes of eating food. You either want to eat like an endless pit or not eat really anything at all. You love finger foods, anything from fruit pieces, cut apples, crackers, corn, beans, pretzels ect. You like to have a balance of crunch and not crunch foods at each meal. If we don't give you crunch foods, you want to bite mom's fingers later!

Some favorite foods this month are yogurt, pretzels, sweet potatoes, corn, apples (you spit out the peel), cheese (not string cheese), and mom milk.

You really enjoy walking around on the furniture and pushing toys around in hopes of being able to walk soon. Very rarely have you stand on your own but when you do you laugh out loud.

You do not like being held like a baby anymore. You want to do things yourself and want more independence. I've given you little bowls with food in them and and a spoon and you enjoy trying to scoop food out and feed yourself. You also like to "cheers" our spoons together to celebrate when food gets into your mouth.

You enjoy playing with toys in a box. You want to pull everything out of your toy box and stack it on the shelves. You also like to put little toys in boxes and bowls. You are paying more and more attention to detail lately and try to pick up all the little tiny things you see.

In addition to independence you have started to know what you want and protest when you don't get it. This protest is often whiny crying with alligator tears. Not fun since you turn it off as soon as you get what you want.

Other fun things you have been doing include signing "all done" and "bye bye." We are still working on "more" and "please." You lately want to have a paci in your mouth and one in each hand when you are near your crib. Something about having 3 is just comforting to you!

You still love playing with you barn and the new tractor you got for it in Seattle. You love to sing to the music at church and dance around a little to music at home. Your dance is more of a bounce. When you get excited you still kick your feet which is so darling.

Your first word is definately "dada" and you say it so cute. You do say "mamama" but mainly when you are hungry or eating something you really enjoy which makes me wonder if you think "mama" means food. I wouldn't be surprised!

Height: 27.5 inches 25%
Weight: 21 lbs 3 oz 35%
Head : 18 inches 20%

You have had 2 haircuts. You have 8 teeth (4 on top and 4 on bottom). You wear size 3 shoes and size 12 month clothes. You are still in your infant rear facing car seat.  You still love the stroller. You hate the exersaucer. We love you every day!

Here are just a few more pictures to share from FotoFly.
