Six months have come and gone since you were born Henry. You are half way to being a year old and I can't believe it! Lately everyone calls you "little Henry" or "Mr. Henry." I don't know how this started because I call you Henry or Hankerton but I don't mind. We need to take you up to see Great Uncle Chuck again so he can give you a proper nickname.
At 6 months here are your stats:
Weight 17lbs 11 oz (50%) You have always been 45% until this month
Height 26.5 inches (40%) You have been 40% all along
Head 17.5 inches (25%) You have jumped between 20-25% all along
Henry at 6 months you have become a better and worse sleeper at the same time. There are days you sleep for 6-7 hours at night and then go back to sleep for 4-5 hours. Other days you are up every 2-3 hours. We are going to get serious about this sleeping thing! You still like to be swaddled and have your pacifier to fall asleep. I tell you a story from the scriptures, we say family prayer, and I sing to you two songs while rocking you to sleep. Naps are on mommy's bed and as long as I lay down next to you fall asleep quickly.
Oh eating... you still just love to nurse. We are trying more and more baby foods all the time but you don't seem that interested in any of them. Most of the food gets drooled out and you end up pursing your lips closed after just a couple bites. I think we are going to try table foods and see if you just aren't interested in baby food, who would be right? You nurse on demand which ends up being 5-6 in a 24 hour period.
You are wearing size 3 diapers, size 6-9 month clothes, and whatever socks I can find. With it getting warmer around here, I'm still figuring out how to dress a summer baby. I'm use to bundling you up in blankets with socks and the like. Just let me know if you are too hot okay?
You have been really fun to play around with this month. On your birthday you found your balance and have been great at sitting up for long periods of time ever since. Of course Daddy likes to trick you and move toys around above your head which inevitably makes you fall over but you are learning not to fall for his tricks.
I think it is safe to say that Mom is your favorite person in the world. You are quick to laugh and talk with Daddy but you give the best snuggles and comfort with mommy. You do not like being babysat by anyone except Aunt Jordan but we continue to try other people that we love. When mommy's Aunt babysat you, you cried for 1.5 hours straight! Lots of our neighbors love to come see you and want to hold you. You are only okay being held by others if you can still see or hear me. But if a little child is holding you, you are happy as can be. You love to watch kids play.
You still enjoy watching your mobile for a little while each day and looking at the leaves dancing outside your bedroom window. You enjoy the sitting up with the boppy or bumbo (your legs are a little chubby for it) or stroller. Playing on the ground with toys is fun as longs as there are lots to grab and suck on. Most anything goes straight into your mouth but you are quick to gag. You also learned how to bang toys on the counter or hit your hand against anything solid.
You also like to stand more and more. When I try to sit you down after you have been standing you keep your legs straight as can be to keep from sitting. Mom is getting little tiny bruises on her thighs from all your standing on them.
You are starting to grab at my face when I am nursing you or holding you. You want to grab Dad's glasses all the time. You also give really sweet wet kisses on our cheeks. I love your love!
You started doing this really cute thing with your leg where you bop your left foot against your right knee over and over again. This happens when you are lying on the ground or when nursing. Part of this move is pictured below. You also like to push your feet against anything you can find. So if mom is holding you and dad is within foot-reach, your little feet are pushing or tapping against dad.
You still don't roll from your back to your tummy but I think that is because you don't love being on your tummy. Someday you will crawl and roll all over the house but for now you just want to sit up and look around at the world. You love being in your stroller and seeing the world.
Henry you are a wonderful baby. Mom and Dad are continuing to learn about all the fun things you can and want to do. We love having you in our home and love you in our family. Our life is much happier and more complete with you. Everyone comments on your sweet baby blue eyes and how much blonde hair you have. You are certainly adorable. I love you always.
