My Sweet Henry,
Today is Mother's day. I have enjoyed reflecting on what this day means to me now that you are in my life. Last year, I was only about 3 months pregnant with you on Mother's day. I remember feeling so excited for the adventure to come with you coming into our lives. And boy has it been an adventure!
Being a mother is the best thing I have ever done in my life. I am so lucky to be with you all day and have your needs as my main focus. Before you were born I worked as an accountant. This was fun, challenging, and rewarding. However, being your mom and caring for you is more fun, more challenging, and much more rewarding. I probably won't always be this lucky to be able to spend all my time caring for you so I am cherishing every moment.
You have taught me about pure joy Henry. Hearing your life and seeing your smile is pure joy. Picking you up after a nice snoozer with arms and legs kicking in excitement is pure joy. Watching you learn new tricks is pure joy. Sometimes I can't believe that I am really this blessed to have such a wonderful life. There is so much heartache and sadness in the world. But in our home there is only pure joy and happiness. Thank you for bringing this wonderful gift to my life.
I hope you will have siblings some day. They will be equally loved and cared for by me and I'm sure you will love them too. However, you are special to me because YOU made me a MOM. I've been preparing my whole life for this dream to come true. You are so special. I am so lucky.
Please always know that I love you. I'm sure days will come when we have to do hard things like learn to fall asleep without the help of mommy or eat artichoke or climb high mountains or stand up for what is right. When these hard times come, please know that I love you and that you, my sweet Henry, can do hard things. You are an amazing boy with so much opportunity for good. You bring joy into the lives of those around you.
As your mom, my hope is to help all your good dreams and wishes come true and to kiss and snuggle the bad dreams away. I love you forever and always.
Love Mom
