I'm a little relieved that Henry is NOT in the top ten. When we named our baby boy Henry, we were not seeking a popular name or an unpopular name. However, I did hope that the name wouldn't suddenly gain huge popularity.
Turns out in 2011 there were 7,166 boys named Henry. This makes the name Henry ranked #57 in popularity in 2011. The name has been steadily gaining popularity over the last 10 years.
As far as I can research, Henry means "home ruler." To me, Henry means "joy."
When we found out we were expecting a baby, both Matt and I thought it was a boy. I was so surprised that we were right. When we talked about names I really liked both Henry and Jack. Matt liked both of these names as well. While I was pregnant I was able to listen to two rounds of General Conference (here). During both the April 2011 and October 2011 sessions of General Conference I loved the talks given by the Apostle Henry B. Eyring. I loved the spirit I felt while he spoke. I love the wonderful example Henry B. Eyring has set. I felt that our baby should be named Henry. Matt also loved the name. Just hours after Henry was born we sat looking at this sweet baby and knew that Henry should be his name.
We gave Henry the middle name of Matthew as a part of a family tradition and as an honor for Henry's dad.
Henry Matthew Huntsman, you have a wonderful name. We love you.
I think Henry is a WONDERFUL name! I too love listening to President Henry B. Eyring. We are having such a hard time coming up with a name for our baby girl - she could be arriving at any moment. I'm hoping we'll know when we see her what her name should be.
