Henry celebrated his 2 Month milestone by ringing in a new year. At 2 months lots has changed for Henry. For starters, he started sleeping in the crib in his room the day Kellie went back to Alaska. The first night was rough for mom- I don't think I really ever went to sleep. Since moving into his own room Henry started sleeping for four hours at night, waking up to eat, and then sleeping for another four hours. This is WONDERFUL! The downside to sleeping in his own room is harder nap times. During the day it is really hard to get Henry to nap without being held. I've tried swaddling, car seat, swing, moby wrap, etc. But holding my baby during the day isn't so bad and I actually enjoy it most days. Plus its a small price to pay for such great night time sleeping. Henry also sleeps great in the car- just like his mom!
On the January 3rd Henry had his two month check-up at the doctor. I asked all sorts of silly questions to which the pediatrician informed me everything was normal and being a new mom is hard. He also complimented Henry on his abundance of hair, the pediatrician is bald. At his appointment Henry weighed 11.5 lbs, 22 inches long, and as a 15 inch head. Everything looks great except he has a slight flatness to the left side of his head. We are working on decreasing the time he spends favoring that side. Henry also got shots which he didn't enjoy at all. He cried like I have never heard and was very whiny all day. I tried giving him Tylenol for his fever and found out he prefers grape over strawberry but really doesn't like either.
Nursing from week 6-8 was difficult. My milk started coming like a fire hydrant and Henry would gag and chokes and couldn't keep up. This caused an upset tummy for Henry, wet mess for both of us, and crying on both sides. But with help from Jane the lactation consultant and my dear mom, we worked things out by about week 9 and have had smoother sailing ever since.
Henry enjoys tummy time for about 5 minutes and then wants to be done. Holding up his head for longer is too hard. Henry started to track dad's hands and voice when playing. Henry also enjoys looking out and at the world- not at the face of the person holding him. Christmas lights were everywhere and Henry loved looking at all of them. When Henry would get fussy at night we could take him to the tree and he would calm right down. He loves looking at lights and the world
Henry's hiccups have decreased a bit- he no longer gets them every day but still gets them at least 4 times a week. Henry also started noticing if he was alone in a room and started whining until he hears my voice or gets picked up.
Matt figured out how to hook the mobile up to the crib and Henry LOVES to watch it and hear the music. He kicks and punches and smiles at the animals for about 30 minutes before getting tired. Henry's smiles are so fun and becoming more frequent.
Henry is such a boy- already punching his Bruce moose.
Having "Side-time" with dad. Matt decided Henry shouldn't just have "tummy-time" and "back-time."
He's such a cutie!
