12/18/12 - To be Remembered

Today holds some significance to my family. My parents were married on this day 32 years ago!!! Way to go Papa and Grammy. I was telling Matt how I always thought their anniversary was so romantic because we would get a little snow. Snow in Washington is a BIG deal and most everything stops when it snows. It is a lot like a beautiful snow globe to be enjoyed with hot chocolate and snow angels. In Utah, snow just means a yucky commute and driveway to shovel. I can remember at least 3 instances growing up where it snowed on my parents anniversary and I always thought it was so romantic! Well this year it snowed again and they had a great day.

Another reason this date is significant is because it was this day 4 years ago that my Grandpa Graves passed away. It was a bit sooner than we expected and I still remember getting the news from my dad over the phone while up at USU. My Grandpa and I became e-mail pals (like pen palls but with e-mail rather than ink) when I went to college. I would ask him silly questions about himself and we would send great responses. I know that even though we didn't see each other that often, he loved me so much. It is wonderful to remember those we love.

Another reason why this date is significant is because today is the day Henry decided to walk everywhere. Prior to today, Henry would walk when prompted but choose to crawl for ease and speed. However, all day he has walked every where. When he falls he gets back up and keeps going! Here is a little walking video and anniversary tribute to Grammy and Papa.

Based on what I have seen, I think it is safe to say that one of Henry's daily goals is to get his hands on as many paci's as he can. There are a total of 4 pacis in his crib at all times. You know that he tries to sneak them out during the day. But after nap time he tries to hoard them. Need proof?

His victory is one in the mouth, two in the right hand and one in the left. Naptime isn't over until this feat is achieved, believe there are yells and tears if I get him too early. Of course other times we got to get him and all the pacis are on the floor...

Another fun thing we did this day was celebrate Christmas early for Henry. By that I mean we went to look at desks an RC Willey's and let Henry open as many doors and drawers as his heart desired. This boy was in heaven! Henry's latest fascination is opening and closing doors, cupboards, and pulling open drawers. He gets mad when he can't open something with a handle (like a fake drawer). So we decided that next time Henry needs a big reward we will take him to play with desks again.
