3/1/13 - 16 Months Old

Hey Handsome! You are 16 months old today!

Stats: Nothing has really changed since 15 months except that we can see your top 2 canine teeth waiting to break the surface.

You loved sitting on this package of diapers reading an old favorite.
WORDS: Dad, cracker, car, sock, mama, ball, tractor, UH-OH, sometimes banana (making an "n" sound while sticking your tounge in an out), "mmmm" which we think means more.

Making beautiful music complete with horizontal dancing. You love putting stuff in the pots and the putting the lid on. Then lifting the lid to make sure it is still there. Then repeating until all the pots have something hidden inside. Needless to say I clean the pots BEFORE we use them.
Signs: Nothing new here except the occasional hand wiggles during the ABC's

Food: Lately you enjoy cooked carrots, apple slices, green fruit smoothies, freeze dried berries, freeze dried apples, peas, gold fish, pretzels, and cheese.

You could not figure out how to grab these snowflakes but put forth a valiant effort! Lately, you want to drink out of cups with out lids, you want to scoop food yourself, and you want to suck on any straw you find (caprisun's taught you how to use a straw). We are learning that we need to give you opportunities to try AND struggle at doing things yourself rather than doing things for you.

At the end of 16 months you magically learned how to fall asleep without a fuss for your naps and night time. We did re-sleep train last month but that got thrown out the window when you had back-to-back colds and wanted lots of snuggles. Your parents are suckers for your snuggles and their sleep! However, you know how to go to sleep by yourself now and are very happy in your crib as long as you have a paci in your mouth and 1 in each hand. Lucky for you there are 5 pacis in your crib.

At Jordan made our lucky day when she came to play on your monthday. She offered to play with you while your parents went out on a date. Kneaders!!! When we got back you were all giggles and had a wonderful time as usual with Aunt Jordan. You two taught each other some silly faces!

Daddy tried to win your heart by making silly faces in return. Every time dad would close his eyes or squint at you, you would laugh and laugh and run to him. Tossing your head back and laughing is a new skill, wonder where you learned that from... Each time you ran to dad, you ran back to mom for a good snuggle. Then repeat with making "mmm" sounds at Dad asking for more silly squinty eyes.

Silly boy
