Day 2 of broken leg was HARD. With your splint, you were afraid to move anywhere on your own. So you would cry and whine a lot when a toy was just out of reach. There were a few bright moments, one of which was that you learned to say "mom." My excitement for this moment quickly faded when the more times you said "mom" the more whiner you became. Such is the life of a mother, at least you can say my name now :)
At breakfast you had a few silly moments where you looked like rudolf the red nose reindeer and then laughed at me for laughing at you. Maybe I didn't ruin your life after all?
My life saver this day was Janilee, she came over to hold and play with Henry. She got him to eat some food, she got him to laugh, she got me to smile, she started wash for me, and helped me feel like I would survive. Janilee even took Henry to her house for an hour so I could clean my house, put away the laundry, and make the bed for Jordan and Austin to sleep over. Her cute girls were so nice to play gently with Henry and give him loves. Over and over again she reminded me that I'm not a bad mom and that Henry will quickly forget the pain and probably won't remember that he had a broken leg.
My other life saver was Grammy. She reminded me of much of the same things in addintion to reminding me of all the trick she used when Jordan was in her huge cast as a baby. She made me feel like we could survive this. She reminded me that everything would be better once the cast was on. Grammy was so kind to send this delicious edible arrangement that was enjoyed and enjoyed some more. The cupcakes were chocolate covered pineapples, the grapes were Henry's favorite. Receiving this bright, happy, and yummy treat made me feel really happy. And like I didn't have to cook dinner again!
here's some silly pictures of Henry with his splint. He also learned how to say "paci" this day which sounds a lot like "buddy."
This evening I went to my cousin Tanner Moss' mission call opening (he's going to Calgary Canada) and picked Jordan and Austin up for a sleep over. Those lucky ducks get to go home tomorrow! If we didn't have a cast to be put on in the morning we would have joined them on the plane! Another sleepless night followed. Why didn't I give him benedryl? Ibprophen and Tylenol just weren't enough.
