Here are pictures of you from the first day you got your cast to the last day. 4 weeks total.
Near the end your cast was really falling apart. I found pieces of blue cast scattered all over the carpet and furniture. Since you learned to walk with your cast, parts of the foot got really soft and beat up, a big chunk right below your toe looked like it would fall off in a day or two. You cast also started ripping up our bedspread and clothes because of the rough edges. So we kept a sock over you toe often.
I tired to capture a few videos of you walking and crawling with your cast. Not the best but a phase captured.
Here's the first time we have ever been able to get you to sit on the paper without crying. Notice the Choo-choo shirt and car in hand? We came prepared. Matt also came for the appointment. Probably more for moral support then anything since I went crazy with the last two visits. We prepped Henry (and me) the last few days by watching a video of a kid getting a cast off. We talked about how it would go "buzzz" and then the cast would be bye-bye. Dr. Dallin showed Henry the cast saw, turned in on and showed that it made a loud buzz sound, and then put the blade on his own hand to show that it didn't hurt. I sat on the table and had Henry on my lap, while Matt stood and talked with Henry. Henry did pretty good and only whined a little when it came to cutting the foot part off. He just really doesn't like anyone touching his toes. The cast came off and Henry was a little hesitant about people touching his foot. We didn't try having him walk right away because I didn't want to push him and he was clinging to me like a cat. We let the assisting med student have your cast because she asked so nicely and I don't know what we would ever do with it.
(we were in the surgery room, hence the oxygen and circumcision tray in the background)
When we got home I tried getting picture of your leg but you wanted nothing to do with holding still. I was surprised at how not little your leg really was. I guess 4 weeks isn't that long. On the car ride home you kept grabbing your leg and talking a whole lot. I also noticed that you kept itching that leg as well. I put you right into the bath tub to scrub off all the dead skin that was hanging from your leg. I was also really surprised by how long those leg hairs were in comparison to your other leg.
By late in the afternoon you were trying to walk using the coffee table and happy about life.
Here's a video of you crawling and playing post cast removal. You can see how often you kept that leg straight like it was still in a cast.
