Week 44 - 10 Months OLD!

Henry you are 10 months old (by the time of this posts you will be 11 months old but no big deal....) I would describe this past month as an increase in mobility! You have progressed from a worm crawler to a hands and knees crawler. You've also started to pull yourself up on stuff and show a desire to stand more and more. This past month has been really fun and enjoyable as well as tiring.

I couldn't get a single picture with the sign and Bruce moose. Hence the mobility phase we are in! You are become a wonderful smiler and gigglier more and more. If I'm holding you and Dad is walking behind you, you automatically think Dad is chasing you and get so excited and laugh! This also happens if Dad is holding you and I'm walking behind you. When you get excited you open your mouth wide, kick your feet, and put your hands out like a scare crow and wiggle your fingers. The excited look is followed by a squeal of delight. SO MUCH FUN!

We've had more success in the sleep department this month. You still go down between 7:30 and 8 PM and then have started waking up at 5 or 6 AM to nurse and then go back to sleep until 7:30 or 8 AM. I love when you do this. Of course there are still the off nights where you wake a few more times and whine but I'm doing better at just letting you whine and learn to go back to sleep on your own. Lets please hope this sleeping through the night for 10 hours continues forever.

You have transitioned to two naps a day now which normally occur at 10 AM and 2-3 PM. Naps are between 1.5 to 2 hours long with an occasional longer or shorter nap.We play with your glow worm and sing a few songs then lay you in bed with your puppy doggy and paci then off to sleep you go.

I've stressed a lot about nursing this month which I think is fairly common. Since you are so active I wonder if you get enough milk to drink since you don't want to spend a lot of time nursing. This has then led to me having less milk and more worry. I've started pumping about every other day, or whenever you don't nurse well and then offer you the milk. This has helped my supply increase and my worry decrease. I would really like to make it to 1 year of nursing since we are so close! You still detest my right side but I've figured out some tricks to get you to take it. We mainly nurse in the side lying position because you seem to like it better but have started some trapeze nursing with you so much on the move. I found out from the pediatrician that at this age you should still get 24-36 oz of milk a day.

You have learned to play while kneeling which is pretty cute. I had no idea babies didn't have knee caps until I tried playing like you for a day and wondered why your knees didn't hurt all the time. You are pretty good at getting from any position more smoothly, like kneeling to crawling, with just an occasional belly flop.

This month we have been really good at giving you solid foods and new things to try. Each morning you feed yourself cheerios and then mom feeds you oatmeal mixed with fruit. At lunch and dinner you have a mix of things to feed yourself (puffs, beans, corn, noodles, banana, etc.) and somethings mom feeds you (yogurt, slippery fruits and veggies, etc.). For the most part you eat what we eat and enjoy it as long as you can spend sometime feeding yourself. I would say your favorite is still sweet potatoes, yogurt (dried or in a tube) and bananas (not baby food bananas). You also tried arrowroot cookies for the first time this month and get so excited whenever you see the package.

Your favorite thing to do is play with the floor vents and wall vents. You also love to try and get the nightlights on the wall. If given the opportunity you love to turn the light switches off and on while I get ready in the morning. You also love anything with wheels, not to push but to spin in your hands. You lately carry toys around with you while you crawl which is sometimes very awkward but successful. You love to be outside and go for walks or play on a blanket. You are not quite sure how to feel about the grass and are pretty content just fingering it while the rest of you is on a blanket. You seem to really love being around other kids, which is great because we have lots of kids over to play just for fun lately. Which reminds me, our neighbor Bryn, who is 3, came over the other day and kissed you right on the mouth and declared it was "true loves kiss" then ran off. You just look bewildered and drooled all over the place :)

Another favorite thing is Daddy. You love to wrestle and chase and be tickled by him. In the morning when Dad leaves you wave bye-bye and wait for him to come surprise you by opening the door and saying "BOO." Once he finally really leaves you still watch the door. Since we have a camera in your room I've watched while dad goes to get you in the morning. I smiled as I watched him crawl in on his hands and knees to your crib while you reached out your hands and grabbed at his face. He snuggles you and helps you say good morning to everything in your room and then bye-bye to your paci before leaving your room. You two have a very special relationship and I'm so glad.

There are times of the day where you don't want anything but your mother. Those times are becoming less and less as you are realizing there is more to explore and adventure. I do love our nighttime routine of bath, lotion, songs, kisses, and tickles. I love that you smile at me with those bright eyes and hope I can always take all your worries away.

You love to jibber jabber all day long and even sing a little. When other babies come over I'm surprised at how much you have to say and how little they have to say. People always tell me that they can't wait for you to figure out words because it will be such an adventure! You sing at church a little. If it is ever quite you find it is a wonderful time to really talk loud, like during any prayer.

As I mentioned before you still love mom a lot but like to spend time with other people too. Some of your favorites are Dad, Aunt Jordan, Janilee our neighbor, and Emily Quezada from YW. Of course you do go to other people and family members but you reach for the people listed above. I think part of it is that you know they love you AND you see them often. I'm sure your other Aunties are on the favorite list but you don't get to see them as much, tear :( I like that you go to other people and are happy with them. It is helping you learn that mom goes bye-bye sometimes but that I come back!

The corn on the cob at the beginning of the month helped your top two teeth come through. I looks like the top two side teeth are also coming in but have yet to break through. So at 10 months you have 4 cute teeth! You have stopped biting your finger as much because those teeth are really sharp! You don't love teething and the Hyland teething tablets have really helped you sleep and helped me feel like I'm not drugging you all the time. Word to the wise, although the teething tablets make a great rattle, they are not truly child-proof. Everytime I've given them to Henry to shake while I change his diaper, which has been twice, he has opened them within 1 minute and got chalky dust everywhere.

You are really good at waving Bye-bye to Dad and have done it to a few other people as well. You might wave all-done or you are just really excited to get picked up after eating, not sure which. You love to say DADADADA and pronounce the A with a very hard sound. I'm hoping some MMAMAMA sounds are soon to follow. I don't know if Dad is your first recognizable word cuz you say it whether he is around or not but again it could be. Maybe I just don't want to admit it!

You are wearing size 3 diapers, with size 4s waiting for you once we finish off this pack. You are wearing 12 month clothes with an occasional 9 monther in the mix because of the season. You did not have an official weight check but I weighed you and you are finally over the 20LBS mark! According to our scale you weighed 20.2 lbs.

You eyes are still blue, your hair is still feather soft with a little craddle cap, you still love bath time, your mouth is still perfect, and we still love you!
