On October 6th we had lots of family over to enjoy each other's company. Papa and Grammy, Uncle Roger and Ellen and Brianna, Aunt Jordan and Uncle Austin, and of course your parents. Everyone was in the living room watching you crawl and try to walk all over the place. It was WAY past your bedtime but we had family over who don't get to see you very often. The phone rang (why does it always involve the phone? The phone is to blame for the time I let our brand new kitchen catch on fire while I was in 8th grade. Yep it was the phone's fault not mine...) and it was Grandpa and Great Grandma Evelyn calling to with your mom a belated birthday. While on the phone I heard Grammy say OoooooOOOOooo and then heard you crying. So I run into the room to see your bloody mouth and take you from your daddy and do who knows what with the phone. In the kitchen I set you on tehe counter to see a LOT of blood in your mouth. Like filling your mouth and running down your lips. So I quietly (NOT) asked Grammy to come help since she is a nurse and knows how much blood is too much. You were MAD! You didn't want anyone looking in your mouth. If I had my way I would have ran you to the hospital in that instant. But Grammy determined that the bleeding was slowing down and that you would be okay. You bit through a pretty large portion of you lip, your gums were bleeding around your teeth, but everything would be okay. We decided to try and nurse to calm you down. Dad had the genius idea to give you a gogurt to provide something cold to your lip and a yummy treat. So you took a bite of yogurt then a little drink and just went back and forth for a while. We tried to ice your lip but you wanted nothing to do with that. After a good cuddle with mom you let Grammy snuggle you and said nighty night to everyone and went to bed. In the morning you woke up looking like this:
Pretty happy for so many tears the night before huh?
As I was not in the room, I am told that you tried to walk from the coffee table to the fireplace but tripped on the boppy pillow that was on the ground and then face planted into the brick on the fireplace. At the time no one was really in charge of watching you as I had just stepped out of the room but everyone was watching you as you were falling but unable to get to you in time. I'm told that this is just the beginning of the bumps and bruises of toddlerhood. I need to take a first aid class is all I have to say.
This one is blurry but it shows how swollen your lip is when not smiling.
You thought I just wanted to play games with you!
Dad helping get a good view
You decided to stare and sing at the ceiling....
If only this one was clear! Seriously you crack me up!
Later that day we realized you had a serious drool problem with your lip being so swollen. You also want to play with your fat lip all the time. Also you have bonked your lip at least 10 times since and I am beginning to wonder if it will ever heal.
Your desire to play and have fun is still in full force. I'm just glad you still have a lip and teeth. Oh and that you don't have pictures scheduled this week.
Grammy and Papa had to head back home, after a long delayed wait at the airport. You took the longest nap of your life: 3 hours! We went for a walk, played with dad and then had a bath and bed time.
